New partnership between École Polytechnique and University of California, Berkeley
École Polytechnique (L’X) and the Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Berkeley (ITS Berkeley) are excited to bring an innovative module reflecting academic excellence in transportation and the innovation of Silicon Valley to the new École Polytechnique’s Executive Master degree program, launched this semester.
The module, Transportation Sector and Silicon Valley Ecosystem will cover a variety of topics where participants will develop a strategic vision of management and innovation in the transportation sector. In addition, Berkeley’s location and partnerships will allow for visits to innovation hubs and access to influent Silicon Valley leaders.

The five –day course will run June 10 – June 15, 2018 and will specifically cover:
- Transportation Systems, Networks and Vehicles (Modeling and control of large-scale mobility systems);
- Deep Learning for Autonomous Vehicles (computer vision, machine learning, and AI for self- driving cars);
- Future Urban Transport (an overview of disruptive technologies and service models); Future of Cities (large-scale and long-range urban forecasting); and
- The Silicon Valley ecosystem (to include topics focused on entrepreneurship, funding, venture capital, failure and feedback).
The course will draw on expertise from Bayen, Professor Trevor Darrell, Director of Berkeley Deep Drive; Adjunct Professor Dr. Susan Shaheen, Co- Director of the Transportation Sustainability Research Program and Director of Innovative Mobility Research; Paul Waddell, Professor of City and Regional Planning; Mark Coopersmith, Faculty Director of the Module and Senior Fellow of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the Haas Business School; and John Danner, Senior Fellow, Haas Business School, Visiting Faculty from Princeton. — in addition to site visits to innovation hubs in the Silicon Valley.
About the École Polytechnique Executive Master degree program
The École Polytechnique Executive Master aims to train leaders who can design, deploy and manage in an international perspective and for organizations or companies from any sector of the value-creating business models that have a strong technological dimension.
The program consists of 12 modules of which 9 modules will take place in France and 3 international modules taking place in Asia, Europe and the USA. The international components are a strong point of the program. They allow participants to expand their understanding of management in an international and technological business setting while in different economic and cultural environments.
