On Tuesday, June 21st, Axelle Lemaire, Minister of State for the Digital Sector, attached to the Minister of the Economy, Industry and the Digital Sector, launched the season 2 of the French Tech Ticket Program, a program designed for entrepreneurs from all over the world who want to create their start-ups in France. École Polytechnique’s start-ups accelerator, X-UP, has been selected to assist gifted and ambitious individuals from all around the world during the season 2.
An international program
Launched in 2015 as part of the French Tech, the French Tech Ticket program aims at selecting and supporting international entrepreneurs in France who have an ambitious project start-up creation or development. During the 1st edition, 50 foreign entrepreneurs and co-founders of 23 start-ups joined the French Tech Ticket program in one of the 10 partner incubators. This new program washed over applications from more than 100 countries and 722 startup projects.
For its 2nd season, the program is expanded across France: 41 incubators have been selected, 22 from the Greater Paris region and 19 from other major French cities, to host future laureates in their accelerators and incubators. The candidates for the French Tech Ticket Program will choose their preferred incubator regarding their expertise sectors. 70 foreign start-ups, or about 180 entrepreneurs, will join the Season 2 program in January 2017.
X-Up, an accelerator dedicated to innovative start-ups
X-Up is an early-stage accelerator for technological and innovative startups. It provides 6-months, renewable once, acceleration cycle to up to 15 startups of various sectors: IOT, hardware, data science, artificial intelligence, robotics, healthcare, fintech, cleantech. The process is heavily based on mentoring, that is adjusted on a case by case basis, and is developed around high-level workshops inciting the circulation of ideas. Accelerated startups benefit from École Polytechnique ecosystem, thanks to its research center and its cutting-edge laboratories but also the students, faculty staff, institutions promoting technology and research, corporate companies.
This program is hosted on-campus, in "LA FIBRE ENTREPRENEUR – Drahi-X Nova-tion Center", a new 2,600 m² space providing a unique spot for creation, experimentation and prototyping, education, incubation, and exchanges with investors and corporate partners. To prepare their future developments, they benefit from an international network of accelerators and incubators, alumni (including entrepreneurs, investors, Major Group’s CEOs, etc), as well as industrial partners.
What’s in it for the French Tech Ticket winners?
- €45,000 funding per project to cover external costs (feasibility studies, service providers...) and personal costs
