Géraud du Jonchay Appointed Director of Budgetary and Financial Affairs of École Polytechnique

Géraud du Jonchay is appointed Director of Budgetary and Financial Affairs of École Polytechnique, effective as of November 2, 2020. He takes on the role previously held by Nicolas Hengy, who has started a new position in the office of Frédérique Vidal, French Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. Géraud du Jonchay reports to Nadine Brière, Director of Administrative Services, and will sit on the Executive Committee Board of École Polytechnique.
In charge of the budgetary and financial policy of École Polytechnique, Géraud du Jonchay ensures the tasks of managing budget acts, developing financial revenues, and optimizing the financial operations of the School. This position takes place in an evolving environment with the implementation of a multi-year action plan for the modernization of support functions.

Géraud du Jonchay is a graduate of ISG Business School (Institut Supérieur de Gestion), of the Institute of Advanced Studies in National Defence Paris (Institut des hautes études de la défense nationale Paris (IHEDN)), and of the Cycle des hautes études pour le développement économique (CHEDE). In 1996, he began his professional career at Capgemini as a manager of Commercial Management. In 2000, he joined the public sector as a consultant at Accenture for the services of the French Prime Minister and the Ministries of Sports, the Overseas, and Social Affairs.

From 2004 to 2013, Géraud du Jonchay became project manager then project director for the General Public Policy Review at the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance. In this role, he participated and led many initiatives such as the implementation of the School of State Modernization (EME), the reform on territorial administration, and the implementation of the Organic Law of Finance Laws (LOLF) for overseas departments.  

In 2013, he founded his firm (Basileius) specializing in strategic plans to reform large public, parapublic, and general interest organizations as well as public finance reform. The firm’s objectives: to support institutions of public interest in the transformation and optimization of their strategy: strategic plans, reorganization plans, digitization, and performance optimization. In particular, the firm supports the public finances of certain African countries (Cameroon, Gabon, Mauritania, Morocco) and recently piloted the project to support the public finance reform of Tunisia.

Géraud du Jonchay spent the year of 1995 in the 7th Alpine Fighter Battalion as a section commander. In 2007, he graduated from the Reserve Staff of the French National Police.

En charge de la politique budgétaire et financière de l’École polytechnique, Géraud du Jonchay assure la mission de contrôler les actes budgétaires, de développer les recettes financières, et d’optimiser la fonction finance de l’École. Ce poste se situe dans un environnement évolutif, marqué par la mise en œuvre d’un plan d’action pluriannuel de modernisation des fonctions support.
