François Bouchet, Director-General of École polytechnique, will be travelling to Morocco on February 1st and 2nd, 2018 to sign a series of cooperation agreements with the best engineering schools in Morocco in the field of cutting-edge training in solar and renewable energy.
Moroccan students are the third most represented nationality at École Polytechnique, with around 100 students. There is also a large community of alumni of l’X who hold high-level posts in Morocco.
Based on these firm foundations, l’X has undertaken to develop cooperation links over the past few years with Moroccan academic institutions engaged in developing the field of renewable energy, a sector which has now become a priority for its work in Morocco.
L’X has now decided to develop new collaborative projects to train Moroccan engineers in renewable energies, as part of its Master’s program, Energy Environment: Science Technology and Management (STEEM). The program relies on a multidisciplinary and transversal approach to energy and environmental issues. Moroccan graduates of the program will be well-equipped to meet the challenges of generating and supplying renewable energy in the 21st-century.
Director-General of École Polytechnique François Bouchet will be signing several academic and partnership agreements during his visit, with four major institutions in Casablanca and Rabat: École Hassania des Travaux Publics (EHTP), École Mohammadia d’Ingénieurs (EMI), École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Rabat (ENSMR) and École nationale supérieure d'électricité et mécanique (ENSEM). These agreements will ensure that training for Moroccan experts in the sector will be provided at the highest level.
His Excellency Mr. Saaïd Amzazi, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, will attend the signature ceremony in the presence of l’X and the four Moroccan institutions on February 1st. This event will represent a strong symbol of the Moroccan government’s commitment to developing training and research in renewable energy.
The agreement follows on from the partnership agreed in 2017 with the Institut de Recherche en Énergie solaire et Énergies nouvelles du Maroc (IRESEN – Moroccan Institute for Research on Solar Energy and New Energy), which aims to promote exchanges by undertaking joint academic, research and development projects in the photovoltaic solar energy sector. These will benefit from the expertise developed by École Polytechnique in the fields of renewable energy, thin layers, photovoltaics and entrepreneurship.
