École Polytechnique announces the opening of its Bachelor program for the academic year 2017-2018. This new three-year program is designed for high potential international undergraduates, including French students who are interested in acquiring an international Bachelor’s degree.
This Bachelor broadens École Polytechnique’s academic offer while offering international students the chance to benefit from a high-level, demanding, multidisciplinary curriculum that combines science, humanities, management and sports.
Multidisciplinary learning closely linked to research
This three-year program, designed in accordance with international standards, entirely taught in English, aims at recruiting classes of 160 students per year, of which at least 60% are expected to be international students.
École Polytechnique’s Bachelor offers a multidisciplinary approach closely linked to research, provided by distinguished faculty in an international and multicultural environment. The academic program is based on a scientific multidisciplinary core with an emphasis on mathematics. On top of their education in fundamental sciences, students follow courses in humanities and social sciences, languages and sports, providing them with the necessary soft skills to complement their scientific background and knowledge. They are also exposed to industry as part of the curriculum.
During their 2nd and 3rd years, students get the choice between three double majors:
-Mathematics & Computer science
-Mathematics & Physics
-Mathematics & Economics
The primary purpose of the Bachelor is to deliver a diploma opening the doors of top-level graduate programs worldwide. Students will receive support and coaching to access the best Master’s programs in France, at Université Paris-Saclay for example, and in prestigious institutions abroad. Students will also be able to apply to École Polytechnique Graduate degrees’ programs or to the new PhD-tracks within its research departments.
Opening of applications in November 2016
École Polytechnique’s Bachelor’s program is designed for top-level students with very high potential. Candidates will submit an online application that includes:
-an application file to assess the student’s level, in particular in sciences (academic transcripts);
-a statement of purpose, written in English;
-a resume / a biography.
The applications will be reviewed by a board composed of Faculty members and Deans from École Polytechnique. Shortlisted candidates will then receive an invitation for an interview in order to assess their motivation and knowledge. Applications for the Bachelor’s program will open in November 2016.
Tuition fees will be detailed at the beginning of the 2016 academic year and will be in line with international practices. École Polytechnique will offer scholarships and exemptions to waive all or part of the tuition on social grounds. Candidates will also have access to loans with preferential interest rates in order to finance their studies.
Frank Pacard, Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Research of École Polytech-nique, underlines: “the creation of the Bachelor completes our academic offer. We aim at recruiting the top-level students worldwide as well as the best French high-school graduates who are keen on attending a program of excellence that respects international standards.
